I’m Luís Peixoto, a Site Reliability Engineer from Portugal.

By day I keep a high-traffic sportsbook platform reliable at FanDuel (Blip): observability, SLOs, incident response, and infrastructure-as-code across hybrid cloud and Kubernetes.

I got here through a side door: a pharmacy degree, some bioinformatics, then a pivot into engineering — DevOps at Bosch first, SRE after. Along the way I picked up CKA, CKAD, and AWS Solutions Architect certifications, and a soft spot for distributed systems (Java, Kafka Streams), Terraform, Python, and Go.

AdamastorX

The main thread on this blog is AdamastorX: a deliberately realistic distributed platform — Kubernetes, GitOps, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, full observability — running on an old laptop in my house. It’s not a product. It’s where I generate real platform and SRE problems on purpose, then solve them the boring, correct way.

Two things make it personal. Most of the code is written by AI (mostly Claude, sometimes Cursor and OpenRouter models), with me directing and reviewing every pull request — often from my phone. And one of its workloads ingests real genomic data (ClinVar) — a small nod to where I started.

I write about what it teaches me: the incidents, the wrong hypotheses, and the workflow that keeps an AI-built project coherent.

Elsewhere

The name comes from Os Lusíadas, by Luís de Camões — Adamastor is the giant of the Cape of Storms. If you sail toward hard things on purpose, you might as well name them properly.
